Werro, Henry (1896-1971)

Henry Werro was born in London as the son of the violin maker Jean Werro. At the age of 15, he had already began his apprenticeship with August Wunderlich in Markneukirchen.
After years as a journeyman in Frankfurt am Main and Liestal, he joined his father’s business in 1918, which he then took over in 1932.


In the 1950s, he found himself at the centre of what would come to be known as the ‘Swiss Violin War’.

Werro died in 1971 and left his business to his son Henry Jean.
